Provider

Hillary B. Mehas M.S., LPC, NCC
My name is Hillary Mehas, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Columbus, GA, with over 13 years of experience in the mental health field. I completed both my undergraduate and graduate degrees in community counseling locally at Columbus State University (CSU). My professional career began as a group therapist for at-risk teens before I became an intensive outpatient therapist in community mental health. In that position, I worked directly with psychiatrists, other medical professionals, hospitals, and the judicial system to provide therapeutic wraparound services for those with severe and persistent mental illness. The past 8 years have been in private practice, where I’ve been able to focus on individualized treatment for teens and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, PTSD/trauma, OCD, grief, pregnancy/postpartum, and phase of life difficulties. As a military spouse myself, I am passionate about helping those who are also military-connected.
Depending on what brings someone into therapy, I use a blend of evidence-based clinical approaches during treatment: Person-Centered (PC), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP). This flexibility creates a dynamic and effective treatment environment that moves along with the client through their healing journey. I believe in creating a safe, collaborative space where clients can challenge themselves as well as navigate life's difficulties so they can learn new ways forward leading to a better quality of life.

"During my time in Georgia I was going through many transitions in life. Working with Hillary I was able to discover new tools to help me navigate and grow. I am forever grateful for the foundation in therapy that Hillary gave me."
"Hillary helped me recognize what particular struggles I was dealing with and always listened without judgment. But being a good listener isn't what makes Hillary a good therapist. She helps you furnish a mental health toolbox with dependable, tangible tools to make each moment more manageable. Without Hillary's guidance and support, I wouldn't be the person I am today!
